Eat frequently to lose weight

It’s vitally important to have a steady, balanced stream of energy throughout your waking hours. By eating at regular intervals (ideally, every 3 hours), you send a signal to the body that it doesn’t have to store calories. By eating small meals frequently, you are essentially turning off your insulin pump and taking control of cravings.

Portion size is key!

When you eat healthy foods that are nutritionally balanced, your body is then released to burn fat stores. Studies have shown that after only two weeks of eating small, frequent meals, blood cholesterol is reduced by over 15%, while blood sugar was decreased by nearly 28%. This is important because when your body produces less insulin, you’re much less likely to convert dietary calories into body fat.

Need help with portion control and don’t want to weigh and measure? Try one of the handy portion control plates to easily eyeball what a true portion should look like. A cool one to consider is this Meal Measure plate.  Or, this 4 piece of glass portion control set that clearly indicate how to create perfect portions.
